Web Design, Future Technology Use, and Tech Sandbox

For the teacher pages, I looked at my high school’s website. At Marathon Middle High School, the grades range from 6-12. When I looked for teacher pages, there were only three pages on the entire website, and they were all created by the same teacher for her three classes. She teaches grades 9-12, but most of her students are the freshmen and sophomores that take Biology 1. It seems that the last time these pages were edited were during the 2016-17 school year. On her web pages, she includes NMSI study session dates, test date reminders, material lists, and links to her PowerPoint lessons. You can see all of this information was a student or a parent because when you go to the school website, there is no need to login as all of the information is public domain.

In the future, I see myself using a digital calendar to keep track of my events along with my paper planner. I would probably also use Outlook email or any other email system to its fullest abilities and use the lesser known features to make myself more organized. I also want to incorporate educational technologies that allow my student to create their own assignments, such as Storybird and StoryJumper. Also, the use of educational videos and interactive games for class participation. I will also have access to online resources that will allow me to bulk up my lesson plans with fun and interactive activities for my class.

During our tour of the Tech Sandbox last week, I really enjoyed using the 3D printing pens. With the young age of my prospective classroom, I don’t know if I would let them use the pens. I also really liked the different model of the Clear Touch that they had. It had the ability to flatten out like a table as well as lower to a height that a toddler could reach. Installed on the Clear Touch were a bunch of different education games and the screen had the ability to divide in four sections that could have four different games simultaneously going at once.
