Initial Blog (#0) - Introduction
Hi!
My name is Amber Romance. I am a freshman this year and I will be studying Elementary Education as my major with the intentions of getting a minor in Environmental Science. I grew up in Marathon, FL, which is a part of The Keys. Some of my hobbies and passions include musical theater, environmental sustainability, and working with kids.
In the past, I haven't used very fancy education technology in the classroom. Through all of my schooling, there were smart boards in the classroom, laptop carts, and maybe the occasional iPad cart of the teacher was lucky. In all honesty, most of my teachers stuck with using the smart boards for their lessons and didn't really bring new technology into the classroom. That being said, I also went to a public school, so there was not a lot of extra funding around to buy new educational technology to add to the classrooms.
With this course, I hope to redefine my knowledge with the basic Windows and the various Microsoft applications that I learned in high school. I have not had the proper instruction for Windows, so that will be interesting to lean and will be super beneficial towards me, as I own a PC. I also hope to learn about new technology that will help me have a leg up when I apply for a job. The most important thing that I will hope to take from this class is new and fun technology that I can hopefully bring into my future classroom setting.

It's really cool that you're planning to minor in Environmental Science! Musical theater is one of my hobbies as well. I never took any computer class before this one so I'm hoping to improve my basic Windows and Word skills, too!
